“Gay? Shooo!”
You've probably read a lot of pieces on the section 377 of
the IPC. Many were against the “unnatural behavior” and many in favor for it. There
has been a buzz going on since its revelation since the SC made its judgment.
Well, finally a circumstance where all the politicians bonded, notwithstanding it being on their innate homophobia. Because, for them, the concept of consensual sex between two consenting adults, no matter the age, is absolutely appalling if so is done between persons of the same gender.

The very clichéd basis used by our lawmakers for the judgments
was their goal to prevent AIDS. Because, usage of condoms for anal penetration
is impossible, right?
oh, their intelligence leave us to giggles.
oh, their intelligence leave us to giggles.
Very little can be done for such wisdom to be altered. Numerous efforts via protests, via writings and questioning court’s judgment on various levels were done only to finally reach a judgment that baffles all.
And, since when are the activities inside a bedroom having
anything to do with our democratic system and Indian cultures? With numerous
activities having without consent in the form of rapes on a daily basis, why is
something performed with consent a crime?
I understand the portion of section 377 which disallows any
penetration with animals, but, why humans? Are we incapable of making such
choices for ourselves?
And, coming to my most last concern, how exactly do these law makers expect to catch these criminals?
And, coming to my most last concern, how exactly do these law makers expect to catch these criminals?
Are we now going to have cameras in our bedrooms for such ‘heinous’
acts to be caught with proof? Well, won’t that be interesting? One step ahead
of the U.S.?
As appalling as the situation in India is with respect to
the treatment against transsexuals, homosexuals and eunuchs, we still have a
very long way to go to accept them as a part of our society before we point fingers
at the Government for their mentalities.
We'd all be lying if we said that we didn't flinch every time we saw a eunuch pass by. Or, we found out that one of our friends was gay.
I hope for us to make small changes in our daily lives and be a little more accepting.
I hope for us to make small changes in our daily lives and be a little more accepting.
That's all it takes, you'll see.
